The injury bug has struck last second for UFC 211, taking out one of the card's many entertaining bouts. A flyweight bout between Sergio Pettis and Henry Cejudo set for the main PPV card has been scrapped following a hand injury suffered by Cejudo.
Sergio Pettis, the little brother of former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, will still be paid his 'show' portion on the contract ... provided he makes weight on Friday alongside all the rest of the fighters still competing.
“It’s a shitty feeling, man,” Pettis told MMA Fighting. “I’ve never had this happen to me before. I put so much time and effort into this camp. I was three days away from a performance of a lifetime.”
The UFC has announced that Pettis vs Cejudo will be replaced on the main pay-per-view broadcast with a 185 pound fight between David Branch vs. Krzysztof Jotko. Neither the UFC or Sergio revealed when we might get to see the younger Pettis back in action, but if he has anything to say about it I'm sure we will.
UFC 211 takes place this Saturday May 13th from Dallas, Texas. Make sure to tune into MMAMania.com for all the news and updates and analysis coming from the card.
