Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White confirmed that the upcoming Bantamweight title fight between division champion Cody Garbrandt and No. 1 contender, TJ, Dillashaw, would go down on July 8 at the UFC 213 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Obviously, Cody and T.J. are already on that card (at UFC 213), so yeah, we’ll see how that goes,” White said during the post-fight press conference (video replay here) when asked about the possibility of having Jon Jones face Daniel Cormier on the card.
Garbrandt and Dillashaw — former training partners turned bitter rivals — recently went toe-to- toe as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Redemption” -- which premiers on April 19, 2017 on FOX Sports 1 — which apparently got heated.
But, they will have a chance to settle it for real inside the Octagon when they duke it out during International Fight Week this summer. UFC 213 currently also features a thrilling Welterweight scrap between Donald Cerrone and Robbie Lawler.
According to FOX Sports, White’s perfect scenario would be to have the upcoming Middleweight title fight between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre headline the event.
