Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White is tying a ribbon on another successful pay-per-view (PPV) event, as UFC 210 took place last night (Sat., April 8, 2016) from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.
Headlining the event was a Light Heavyweight title fight rematch which saw division champion, Daniel Cormier absolutely dominate and submit Anthony Johnson for the second time to hold on to his 205-pound strap (see it again here). And there was plenty to talk about, as “Rumble” retired from mixed martial arts (MMA) following his defeat.
So what did White think of Johnson’s retirement? See for yourself:
“I agree with Cormier, I don’t think he should retire. I think he’s got a lot left in him, he’s a young guy and people love to see him fight. But, on the flip side, if the “R” word even pops into your head, then you should absolutely, positively retire. This isn’t the business to stay in. Never in the history of me being involved in this company, and for the rest of my life, I will never try to talk somebody out of retirement.”
Also, see what the head honcho though about the wild and controversial ending to Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi, and who he thinks could end up facing Daniel Cormier for the title next.
