Submission! Watch Charles Oliveira choke out Will Brooks at UFC 210

Former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Will Brooks looked to right the UFC ship last night (Sat., April 8, 2017) at UFC 210 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, when he took on featherweight defector Charles Oliveira in the opening main card bout. It didn’t takes “Do Bronx” long to send Brooks packing and push his losing streak to two.

After a quick feeling out period, Oliveira landed a slick takedown along the cage that allowed him to grab a hold of Brooks’ back. Once there, Oliveira was able to lock in a standing rear-naked choke attempt. Brooks tried to fight it off and lasted way longer than any normal person would, but the Brazilian is an elite submission practitioner and was not going to be denied the first-round submission finish.

With this win, Oliveira moves back into the win column after losing his last two via submission. It may take longer for the promotion to grant “Do Bronx” access back to the featherweight division, but this is a good start. Oliveira’s nine all-time UFC submission finishes is only second to Royce Gracie’s 10.
