Highlights! Watch Gegard Mousasi finish Chris Weidman in controversial win at UFC 210

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman really needed a win last night (Sat., April 8, 2017) at UFC 210 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, when he took on Gegard Mousasi in a crucial divisional tilt. While Weidman offered good offense in this fight, it ended in an unfortunate and controversial way for the native New Yorker.

Weidman burned out Mousasi early with a few takedowns and a hard clinch along the cage. The former champ was able to land a big shot late into the first before finishing in control. In Round 2, after Mousasi wiggled out of trouble on the ground, he landed an apparent illegal knee on Weidman that stopped the action. But after review, it appeared that Mousasi lifted Weidman’s hands off the canvas before the knee landed. Afterwards, Weidman was given the full five minutes to recover despite the strike being legal. Doctors were talking to Weidman before calling the fight in favor of Mousasi in the form of a second-round TKO.

With this win, although controversial, Mousasi improves his current win streak to five. He may be required to beat another top contender after this interesting outcome, but Mousasi is right in the thick of things moving forward into 2017.
