UFC officials announced earlier today (Sat., April 8, 2017) that the promotion will drop its usual three-event schedule for International Fight Week this July in favor of a two-event slate. The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale will spark the action off on July 7 and then UFC 213 will close the show on July 8. Both events will take place inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Last year, the promotion held UFC Fight Night Night 90, The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale, and UFC 200 from July 7-9. This year marks the first International Fight Week under WME-IMG control and the new combat owners want to go smaller.
In addition to the schedule change, the famous UFC Fan Expo will be replaced by a “fully interactive two-day UFC Fan Experience” on July 7-8 at Toshiba Plaza and “The Park” outside of T-Mobile Arena.
While no fights have been booked for TUF 25 Finale, UFC 213 already has multiple bouts in place, including a heavyweight clash between Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem, and a welterweight tilt between former champion Robbie Lawler and Donald Cerrone.
