While former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight king Jon Jones is currently riding out his suspension, his name has come up a lot this week leading up to UFC 210 tomorrow night (Sat., April 8, 2017) in Buffalo, New York. Jones will sit cageside and watch nemesis and current 205-pound champion Daniel Cormier defend his title in a rematch with Anthony Johnson. Cormier made it very clear earlier in the week that something bad will happen to Jones if he enters the cage post-fight at UFC 210, adding that someone was crazy for giving Jones an after party in Buffalo.
Jones had the chance to clear the air on some issues currently surrounding his career when he sat down for a media scrum earlier today (Fri., April 7, 2017), which can be seen above in its entirety courtesy of MMA Fighting. The former pound-for-pound champion didn’t reveal too much about his plans for his comeback, ensuring reporters that he hasn’t spoke to UFC about any potential fights, but did have a lot to say about Cormier’s towel fiasco at the UFC 210 weigh ins.
Jones also stated that he has no plans to enter the cage post-fight to come face-to-face with the winner of Cormier vs. Johnson 2. Of course, that could all change if the promotion pushes Jones in that direction, especially since UFC 210 is going down in his own backyard. For now, the controversial star will be a fan in the stands tomorrow night in Buffalo.
