Video: Watch Conor McGregor hit mitts in the street for Floyd Mayweather fight

Instagram

Let the montage begin. Like a modern-day Irish Rocky Balboa looking to take on the champion of the world, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) superstar Conor McGregor has begun his preparation for a potential superfight with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather later this year. While many people are immediately counting the combat crusader out in his professional boxing debut, some fight fans are taking a wait-and-see approach. Leave it up to McGregor to leak some footage on social media and spark more interest in the superfight than there already is. The brash 28-year-old posted the following videos to his Instagram account earlier today (Fri., April 7, 2017):

Frankly, McGregor’s hand speed, timing, and footwork all look really good. This doesn’t mean “Notorious” is going to step inside of the ring and murk Mayweather on arrival, but he’s already training for the potential superfight like it’s a foregone conclusion.

At the end of the day this is just pad work, but McGregor is the type of athlete that’s able to catch on quickly and develop his skill set at a rapid pace. Once he gets in the ring with some pro boxers and entrenches himself in the real thing, the Irishman may end up surprising some people, including “Money.”

In other news, the McGregor fleet is looking mighty strong in the background.
