UFC 210 bout no longer in jeopardy over fear of exploding breasts (Updated)

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will not be forced to cancel one of its pay-per-view (PPV) fights at this weekend’s UFC 210: “Cormier vs. Johnson 2” mixed martial arts (MMA) event, locked and loaded for Saturday night (April 8, 2017) inside KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

That’s because strawweight sensation Pearl Gonzalez — who has breast implants — was cleared to face Cynthia Calvillo by New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC), despite language in the existing statutes that banned the popular surgery for combat sports athletes over concerns of potential ruptures.

“STOP listening to web sites and whoever,” promotion president Dana White wrote on Twitter. “If you don't hear it from us, it's probably not true. THIS FIGHT IS ON!!!!”

After several hours of radio silence, the commission finally comes forth.

Crisis averted.

MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC 210 fight card on fight night (click here), starting with the Fight Pass "Prelims" matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET, and then the remaining undercard balance on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET, before the PPV main card start time at 10 p.m. ET.
