Good things come to those who wait.
A welterweight showdown between former 170-pound champion Robbie Lawler and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone has been booked for UFC 213 on July 8, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight was originally teased for the promotion's inaugural New York event UFC 205 back in Nov. 2016, but fell apart after “Ruthless” decided to take more time off from fighting following his knockout loss to Tyron Woodley in July 2016.
The news was confirmed by ESPN's Brett Okamoto:
BREAKING: Per @danawhite, @Ruthless_RL vs. @Cowboycerrone is a done deal for UFC 213 on July 8 in Las Vegas.

The Lawler versus Cerrone fight is just the latest great scrap to be added to UFC 213, which anchors an International Fight Week that will feature three events at T-Mobile Arena over three nights. UFC Fight Night takes place on Thursday July 6th, then it's on to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Redemption" Finale on Friday July 7th. UFC 213 will cap things off on Saturday July 8th, and also features a heavyweight contenders match between Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem.
There’s going to be a lot more big bookings announced for UFC 213 (and the rest of International Fight Week) over the coming days, so stay tuned for all the big news on upcoming UFC events right here.
