Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa has been blowing up the mixed martial arts (MMA) media after knocking out No. 6-Corey Anderson, demanding a 205-pound title shot against the winner of this fight.
He might want to check with some of the other contenders on that one.
“Jimi Manuwa isn’t qualified to fight for the belt,” Teixeira told MMA Fighting. "He didn’t beat any top fighter yet. I think Jimi Manuwa has to beat a top fighter first before thinking about fighting for the belt, or maybe two or three top guys. Jimi Manuwa is down there, in my opinion.”
Teixeira already had his shot at the strap when he battled Jon Jones at UFC 172. While the Brazilian lost a decision to “Bones” — and has since been stopped by the retired Anthony Johnson -- he’s widely-considered one of the top light heavyweights in the world.
But for how much longer may depend on the outcome of this fight.
