Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is currently packing on the pounds ahead of his anticipated fight against Middleweight champion Michael Bisping. And after footage surfaced (see it here) of a heavier “Rush” training, “The Count” wasn’t impressed.
“I don’t know what’s going on, to be quite frank. But, he looks like he has been impregnated by an alien,” Bisping joked during a segment on his “Believe You Me podcast.”
Of course, St-Pierre has long been fascinated by aliens, so that’s an obvious dig at the French-Canadian’s extraterrestrial imagination. Still, Bisping can’t help but to be in awe of the usually lean, mean fighting machine looking rather odd in the midsection area.
“He’s in his typical GSP little spandex tight shorts, but they’re black, not white. He’s got his shin pads and MMA gloves on and a gigantic belly sticking out. I know he said he is getting bigger, his belly is sticking out and he looks a little weird,” added Bisping.
But, the British brawler isn’t buying it, saying it could simply be “Rush” trying to deceive him ahead of their title fight.
“So I think he’s trying to have fun or trying to lead me up the garden path. I think he’s pushing his belly out. But, whatever.”
As for when the bout is going to take place, Bisping revealed that it is far from signed, but thinks a July date may be out of the question. That could actually be good news for him, giving him more time to recover from his recent knee surgery, which he admitted has been given him fits lately and isn’t healing right.
Nevertheless, there is no reason to be alarmed, as Bisping is intent on taking on the former 170-pound champion this year, more than likely in October. If not, well there is always plan B ... and C. Or (sigh) perhaps even plan D.
