Bellator 181: Patricky ‘Pitbull’ vs Derek Campos rematch booked for July 14

Bellator 181: “Pitbull vs. Campos 2” comes to WinStar World Casino and Resort on July 14, 2017 in Thackerville, Okla. The event brings together two of Bellator’s lightweight stars together in a important divisional rematch.

When Patricky Freire and Derek Campos met in 2014, both men were competing in the season 10 tournament at 155 pounds. “Pitbull” leveled Campos 52 seconds into the second round to advance to the finals, snapping a five-fight win streak in the process.

Campos is once again on a march through the Bellator ranks, putting together three straight wins including a tough war with the heavier “Barbaric” Derek Anderson at Bellator 170. Campos did not let the size disparity keep him from out striking Anderson en route to a unanimous decision.

Fresh off a knockout win over Josh “The Punk” Thompson, nobody’s going to tell “Pitbull” that he’s not the man. Although he’s got a lot of work ahead to earn a third shot at Michael Chandler after losing to him twice, beating Campos again would be a step in the right direction.

The 17-8 Freire taking on the 18-6 Campos is the only fight announced at this early date. We’ll reveal additional bouts when they are available.
