While it’s hard to live up to Conor McGregor’s standards, Straight Blast Gym power puncher Artem Lobov is trying his very best to stand out. Not only is the 30-year-old meeting Cub Swanson later this evening (Sat., April 22, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 108 live on FOX Sports 1 in Nashville, Tennessee, for his first main event bid, but he recently set some time aside to challenge boxer Amir Khan to a superfight. It’s no coincidence that Lobov is making this type of noise right before his biggest UFC appearance to date, especially considering McGregor is finalizing his own superfight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“I would love to box, but Conor, he’s going straight to the top and he’s going for the best guy out there—Floyd Mayweather,” said Lobov in a recent interview with Champions.co. “For me though, I’d like a warm up fight first.”
“I’d like someone easy first, like Amir Khan or someone like that,” he continued. “That would be a nice and easy one for me. With that glass chin, against me? I’d knock him out, and that would be an easy night for me.”
After learning of Lobov’s harsh words, Khan took to Twitter and coaxed “Russian Hammer” into an entertaining war of words.
@amirkingkhan I sneeze harder than you punch! Tune in on saturday to watch a real fight!

For now, Lobov will have his hands full with Swanson. If he can get past him tonight at UFC Fight Night 108 and work his up the crowded featherweight ladder, then maybe he’ll get his own superfights down the road. Until then, he has no business calling out one of the best boxers in the world.
