It was not a successful welterweight debut for UFC veteran Joe Proctor earlier tonight (Sat., April 22, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 108 from inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, when he was finished in the first round by rising prospect Bryan Barberena. The 170-pound clash was fairly competitive in the early going, but Barberena caught Proctor flush with a right hand after the two jawed at each other in a taunt fest. Proctor tried to recover, but ultimately succumbed to hard knees and heavy ground-and-pound en route to the first-round TKO loss.
The memorable finish can be seen below courtesy of UFC.
With this win, Barberena moves back into the win column at 170 pounds after putting an end to a solid opponent in Proctor. Barberena is still green, but he looks primed for a memorable 2017 campaign. If all goes as planned, he could test the top 15 by the end of the year.
