PRIDE Never Die! UFC explores legacy of PRIDE with week-long specials on Fight Pass

PRIDE FC staged it’s final event on April 8, 2007, as PRIDE 34 went down inside famed Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan almost a decade ago.

Ahead of the upcoming 10-year anniversary signaling the end of the much-beloved fight promotion, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) — who’s former parent company, Zuffa, purchased PRIDE — will explore the history and legacy of the company with a week-long dedication to the promotion on Fight Pass.

The promotion even got PRIDE’s infamouse ring announcer, Lenne Hardt, to cut the promo video. From the YouTube description:

April 8 marks 10 years since the final event from the iconic Japanese MMA promotion – but PRIDE Never Die! With new PRIDE-themed Original episodes of Fightography, TWENTY/20, the 3rd Degree & much more, FIGHT PASS explores the legacy of PRIDE FC. PRIDE Never Die! - April 3–9.

Of course, when ZUFFA purchased PRIDE in March of 2007 (details here), UFC abosrbed most of its talent which included Wanderlei Silva, Mirko Filipovic, Quinton Jackson, Mauricio Rua and many more.

Dana White was equally as excited to get the rights to all of the promotion’s video library, which is now at everyone’s full disposal on Fight Pass. So if you want to take a trip down memory lane, make sure to see what UFC has in store with it’s upcoming tribute to PRIDE beginning on Monday April 3.
