Conor McGregor’s coach uses potential Floyd Mayweather fight for April Fools joke

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Lobov vs Ishihara Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Some people are just so gullible.

Combat fans are on pins and needles just waiting for confirmation that the much-talked about fight between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather has officially been booked.

And Conor’s head coach — John Kavanagh -- used that piece of news to toy with everyone’s emotions, as the leader of Straight Blast Gym took the opportunity to prank everyone on April Fools.

Plenty of fight fans were elated, and upset, at the news before most caught on that it was merely an April Fools joke.

Come on, people!

Nevertheless, the combat world is still waiting, hoping that all of the hype surrounding this boxing match was not all just a bunch of hot air. Mayweather is ready, Conor is ready, heck, even one of the previous biggest obstacles in the road, Dana White, is ready.

So, what’s really the hold up?
