Jimi Manuwa bothered by Jon Jones title shot: ‘Bones needs a tune-up fight and he knows it’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa is suddenly the loudest talking man in showbiz, staking his claim to a 205-pound title shot after knocking out ... Corey Anderson.

Sure, “Poster Boy” was planished by Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson, but neither of those two contenders have been able to pull the sword from the proverbial stone. So why not give the brick-fisted Brit a crack at the division crown?

Probably because ex-champ Jon Jones has first dibs.

"I didn't want [Jones] to kind of jump in line," Manuwa told ESPN's Five Rounds podcast. "I've been working hard, knocking people out. I believe I deserve the title shot. He's the greatest of all time, but he's been off a year, two years. He needs a warm-up fight and he knows he needs a warm-up fight. It will bother me, but at the end of the day, it won't determine what I'm going to do. I've got options.”

One of those options is boxer David Haye (seriously).

Holding the 205-pound title is Daniel Cormier, who has a long and messy history with Jones. Their rematch — put on hold when Jones melted his pre-fight pee cup — is expected to take precedence over a Manuwa mash up.

Unless “Bones” wants a tune-up fight.
