Midnight Mania! Cris Cyborg claims she is fighting Germaine de Randamie at UFC 214, but nothing is official yet

Bringing you the weird and the wild from the world of MMA, each and every weeknight ...

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Cyborg vs Lansberg Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Midnight Mania! Tonight, we’ve got Cris Cyborg claiming she’s going to fight Germaine de Randamie at UFC 214, Mike Jackson’s dramatic callout of C.M. Punk, “Mighty Mouse” commentating his own highlights, Nick Diaz memories, knockouts from Japan and much, much more.

Insomnia

Is Cris Cyborg just bluffing to get the ball rolling or does she know something we don’t? Earlier today, she posted the following picture on Instagram.

However, according to Damon Martin of FOXSports.com, the bout is far from official. No announcements have appeared from official UFC channels (Meaning Dana White would tell you to ignore all this noise) and women’s Featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie has remained silent.

From all accounts, it appears this is a fight Cyborg is merely gunning for rather than one already booked, as her UFC contract is running out. Indeed, it would seem that UFC would want her to first agree to a contract extension before booking her in a world title fight so that she can’t win the belt and then sign with a rival promotion.

Bobs and Weaves

Demetrious Johnson breaks down his own brilliant fight with Wilson Reis:

Remember Nick Diaz? His Strikeforce brawl was seven years ago today. He’s without doubt one of MMA’s most distinctive personalities. Let’s hope we see him again in the Octagon someday soon.

Mike “The Truth” Jackson calls out C.M. Punk (again) in the most extra wrestling-style promo you will ever see:

RIZIN fighter King Reina won her bout last weekend ... in her sleep.

Matt Brown training plyometrics and such:

Tim Kennedy will never stop hunting Hitler, despite rejoining the Special Forces now that Mattis and Co. are in command.

Valentina Shevchenko enjoying her time on the beach with a ukulele? Get me that life!

This weekend in combat sports:

Slips, Rips, and KO Clips

Offering fruit to the gods in the ring is, of course, how you know a fighting event is going to be lit.

Sure enough.

Fall down seven times, get up eight (never mind about arithmetic, or the ref stopping the fight):

It always reminds me how tough these fighters really are when someone reacts like a normal human being to getting punched really hard in the face.

Fight Motion from UFC on Fox 24 is awesome
