Robert Whittaker had barely stepped into his locker room to continue celebrating his big win over Ronaldo Souza at last night’s (Sat. April 15, 2017) UFC on FOX 24 event in Kansas City, Missouri (see it again here), before he had another top contender calling him out.
According to Ariel Helwani, Luke Rockhold reached out to him — likely to get some noise going — about his interest in facing the Aussie after his “impressive” performance against “Jacare.”
.@LukeRockhold "I was impressed," Rockhold said about Whittaker's win.

Indeed, Whittaker looked highly-impressive against one of the most skilled fighters in all of mixed martial arts (MMA), making it look easy by schooling the submission ace on the feet en route to a technical knockout victory.
As for Rockhold, he’s on the comeback after being forced out of a fight against the aforementioned Souza last year, and already had his eye on a summer return. And with UFC 213 set to go down on July 8 to finalize International Fight Week, the former champion wants his return bout to be on one of the biggest cards of the year.
And since the Middleweight title picture is currently tied up at the moment thanks to this, it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to have these two top contenders duke it out in a title eliminator.
Or has Whittaker already secured his spot at the front of the title picture (after Yoel Romero) with his win over “Jacare?”
