Top bantamweights Marlon Moraes and Raphael Assuncao will collide at the upcoming UFC 212 pay-per-view (PPV) event on June 3, 2017, scheduled for HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
That’s according to a report from MMA Fighting.
Moraes (18-4-1) was widely considered the best 135 pounder not competing for UFC after racking up 13 straight wins — with eight finishes — on the regional circuit, which included the division title for World Series of Fighting (WSOF).
But he draws a pretty stiff test for his Octagon debut.
Assuncao (24-5) has been nearly perfect over the past several years, compiling a record of 8-1 dating back to 2011 with his only loss coming to former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw at UFC 200.
Time to separate contender from pretender.
UFC 212 will be headlined by the title unification bout pitting featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo against interim champion Max Holloway. Elsewhere on the card, strawweight sensation Claudia Gadelha returns to battle striking phenom Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
