Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion, Holly Holm, has abandoned her short-lived run in the promotion’s newly-created featherweight division to return to her old stomping grounds.
That’s where former division No. 1 contender Bethe Correia will be waiting, according to a report from MMA Fighting.
They’ll do the deed in the headliner of the upcoming UFC Fight Night 111 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which comes to Singapore Indoor Stadium on UFC Fight Pass on June 17, 2017.
After capturing the title from Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in late 2015, “The Preacher’s Daughter” (10-3) coughed up her crown to Miesha Tate at UFC 196, then dropped consecutive bouts to Valentina Shevchenko and Germaine de Randamie.
Clearly a must-win situation.
Correia (10-2-1) was stopped by Rousey at UFC 190, then followed that up with a split-decision loss to Raquel Pennington. After getting back into the win column at the expense of Jessica Eye in Cleveland, ”Pitbull” battled Marion Reneau to a draw just last month.
Who ya’ got?
UFC Fight Night 111 will also feature a heavyweight showdown pitting former UFC 265-pound titleholder Andrei Arlovski against the venerable Marcin Tybura, while Takanori Gomi and Jon Tuck collide in lightweight action.
Stay tuned for more UFC “Singapore” fight card announcements in the coming weeks.
