Chechnyan President Razman Kadyrov is a big fan of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), flying in some of the world’s top mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters to watch them dance the Lezginka.
See the video here.
One thing he’s not a fan of, according to a report from The Daily Mail, is homosexuality. In fact, Kadyrov is accused of greenlighting the creation of concentration camps where gay men are housed, beaten, and often killed.
“Gay people have been detained and rounded up and we are working to evacuate people from the camps and some have now left the region,” Svetlana Zakharova, from the Russian LGBT Network, told the popular online outlet.
A Kadyrov spokesperson — clearly grounded in reality — has denied the charges, insisting that homosexuality does not exist in Chechnya.
“Those who have escaped said they are detained in the same room and people are kept altogether, around 30 or 40,” Zakharova continued. “They are tortured with electric currents and heavily beaten, sometimes to death.”
Keep in mind, this is the same region that is perfectly okay with this.
What a world.
