Pic: UFC welterweight Colby Covington begs for a fight on the streets

MMA: UFC 202-Covington vs Griffen Joshua Dahl-USA TODAY Sports

It’s hard being a professional fighter, right? While most of us would have trouble surviving as a fighter inside of the cage, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Colby Covington is finding it difficult to thrive outside of it. Just look at what the 28-year-old prospect recently threw up on his social media, pleading for the promotion to find him an opponent.

It’s rare that we see a UFC fighter lobbying for a fight in the streets, but here we are. Covington, who recently defeated Bryan Barberena at UFC on FOX 22, can’t seem to find a fight and he’s hitting the pavement to make it known. This is proof that the Octagon doesn’t solve all problems. In fact, it may cause more.

Now it’s not like Covington is some indestructible welterweight who would crush any fighter standing in his way. His 6-1 UFC record is impressive and vastly underrated, but the former collegiate wrestler hasn’t beaten anyone in the top 15. Covington, who would agree with this very statement, should be getting opportunities to fight left and right. Beats standing in the median.
