Knockout! Watch Sergei Kharitonov destroy Chase Gormley with nasty uppercut at Bellator 175

Bellator MMA

Before Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Muhammed Lawal square off later tonight (Fri., Mar. 31, 2017) at Bellator 175 live on Spike TV from inside the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov made good on his second Bellator MMA appearance when he put an end to Chase Gormley via first-round knockout. The Russian powerhouse cut Gormley open with a sharp knee and then let him have it. After landing a flush right hand along the cage, Kharitonov landed a brutal uppercut that left Gormley limp and out of sorts. No follow-up damage was needed as Kharitonov escapes Illinois with the memorable walk-off finish.

The crushing knockout can be seen below courtesy of Bellator MMA.

"The fight strategy tonight was just to be safe and not risk too much early, because the main goal was to win this fight with patience,” said Kharitonov during the post-fight interview. “I was actually waiting for Chase to go to the ground and get the takedown, but he didn't so it was a stand-up fight and that's my game, so I was comfortable and able to do what I do best."

With this win, Kharitonov captures his first victory since 2015 and finally cashes in under Bellator rule. As long as the 36-year-old can continue these types of outings, it’s a only a matter of time before he’s fighting for promotional gold.
