Erick Silva vs. Yancy Medeiros scheduled for UFC 212 on June 3 in Brazil

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Silva vs Chagas Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

It looks like the UFC 212 fight card just got a little deeper. According to a report by Combate, Erick Silva will meet fellow welterweight Yancy Medeiros on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials have yet to make the fight announcement.

Silva, 32, is one of the more exciting fighters to come out of Brazil in recent memory. With a slue of Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses under his belt, Silva is almost guaranteed to produce fireworks in his return to Rio. Silva defeated Luan Chagas via third-round submission in his last Octagon appearance at UFC Fight Night 95.

Medeiros, 29, will be making just his second appearance at 170 pounds assuming this bout with Silva officially makes the card. In his divisional debut, the Hawaiian submitted Sean Spencer in the second round to capture a Performance of the Night bonus. Medeiros has been one of the more underrated brawlers in UFC and may very well experience better results as a welterweight compared to his days at 155 pounds.

UFC 212 will be headlined by a featherweight title unification bout between current champion Jose Aldo and current interim king Max Holloway. The main card will also feature a middleweight showdown between the great Anderson Silva and the red hot Kelvin Gastelum.
