Despite rumors of retirement following his failed weight cut and inevitable removal from a UFC 209 interim lightweight title fight with Tony Ferguson earlier this month, undefeated Russian sensation Khabib Nurmagomedov is ready to get back to work and showcase his healthy abilities. According to a report by Tass.ru, Nurmagomedov will take part in an open team workout in Moscow, Russia, on April 1 (h/t Bloody Elbow).

"The coaching session with the Eagles team members will be held on 1 April in Moscow. It will be attended by Habib Nurmagomedov," an unnamed source told Tass.ru.

While “The Eagle” has held public appearances like this before (such as this wild event), this is particularly significant considering Nurmagomedov was hospitalized just a few weeks ago. This public training session is obviously a way to create fan buzz, but it also reveals Nurmagomedov’s state of physical health, which coincides with teammate Luke Rockhold’s recent outlook.

Still, Nurmagomedov will undergo some medical tests in Germany before resuming training at a full-time clip. It will take the Russian a few fights to prove he’s able to cut weight and be a fighter the promotion can count on, but he has the skill set and youth to take it one step at a time.
