Luke Rockhold: Screw the middleweight division, I’m moving to heavyweight to fight Fabricio Werdum

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Machida vs Rockhold Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight titleholder Luke Rockhold, like a lot of folks in the 185-pound division, are sick and tired of the way reigning division kingpin Michael Bisping has been picking his fights.

Like this guy said, it’s not a sport, it’s prizefighting.

So with “The Count” tied up for the foreseeable future (doing this), Rockhold has decided to abandon his post at 185 pounds and head north to the land of big men to settle the score nobody knew he had with Fabricio Werdum.

From FOX Sports:

“Everyone’s steaming over this new fight I brought up. I think me and [Fabricio] Werdum got some old beef from Strikeforce. He’s a guy I’ve always wanted to fight. I’ve thought it through and I like the style matchup. Given what’s going on in the middleweight division right now, screw that, I’m coming to heavyweight. Let’s do this.”

Werdum is no stranger to beef with Rockhold’s gym, American Kickboxing Academy (AKA).

Rockhold (15-3), who hasn’t been seen since coughing up his 185-poud strap to Bisping last June, is still recovering from a recent knee injury and won’t be jumping back into the Octagon anytime soon.

When he does, the temporarily opponent-less Werdum may (or may not) be waiting.
