Nate Diaz is not happy with the way the UFC has been representing him to the press over the past couple of months.
The popular lightweight (and occasional welterweight) fighter already knew he would never get the kind of love so-called posterboys of the UFC like Conor McGregor get, but we doubt even he expected things to get so bad with the promotion. At this point, the extent of the UFC's marketing of Diaz since his PPV record breaking fights with Conor McGregor has been Dana White claiming Nate refuses to accept a fight.
Nate took to Twitter to share his feelings about those accusations.
This fucker can't stop making shit up about me and I haven't been offered any fights except the one Iaughed at pic.twitter.com/7gRskEXEP9— Nathan Diaz (@NateDiaz209) March 20, 2017
The article in question pulls a quote from a recent TMZ interview where White claims "We keep offering Nate fights and he keeps turning them down. Nick too.”
It's unclear which fight offer Nate is referring to in his post, but back in February he did indeed put out a Tweet that indicated he was not impressed with what the UFC was sending his way.
Lol at your fight...— Nathan Diaz (@NateDiaz209) February 4, 2017
More recently, Eddie Alvarez's camp claims Nate Diaz turned down a fight with him, but whether that's true or the UFC didn't even bother to get Nate in on it is unclear. What is clear is that Nate Diaz isn't interested in stepping into the cage again for anything less than an extremely lucrative fight. The UFC, meanwhile, wants to continue treating him like just another guy on their roster. Until both budge a little and decide to meet on some reasonable middle ground, this kind of stuff will probably continue.
In other words, don't hold your breath on Nate fighting again for a while.
