Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley has plenty of work to do at 170 pounds, starting with his UFC 209 title defense against striking sensation Stephen Thompson.
More on that here.
But just like the last time “The Chosen One” was gearing up for a “Wonderboy” showdown, Woodley was faced with some incoming chatter from one of the top lightweights on the card.
This time it was Tony Ferguson.
“I heard he fired back, but you know what? He better watch out because I won The Ultimate Fighter at 170,” Ferguson said during Wednesday's open workouts in “Sin City” (via MMA Fighting).
“El Cucuy” captured the glass trophy by way of knockout at the end of season 13.
Ferguson, who fights Khabib Nurmagomedov for the interim lightweight title at this Saturday night’s (March 4, 2017) pay-per-view (PPV), got into an argument with Woodley during their recent media conference call (listen).
Maybe if they both win -- or both lose — they can settle this inside the cage?
After all, moving up is all the rage these days.
