British Bantamweight scratched hours before UFC Fight Night 107 after trip to hospital

Another one bites the dust. With just hours to spare, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight Ian Entwistle has been pulled from his bout with rising prospect Brett Johns later today (Sat., March 18, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 107 inside The O2 Arena in London, England, due to medical issues. Entwistle reportedly failed medical clearance after a trip to the hospital. This comes after Entwistle missed weight by three pounds at UFC Fight Night 107’s weigh-ins (results here).

While Entwistle wasn’t scheduled to participate on UFC Fight Night 107’s main card, this is a crushing blow for his opponent. Johns, 25, is an undefeated prospect (13-0) who was hoping to notch his second UFC win in as many appearances. The man known as “Pikey” already had to deal with an actual fire, so this is just icing on the cake.

“Obviously I’m very disappointed that my fight has been pulled due to Entwistle being unable to compete on medical grounds,” Johns told MMAjunkie. “My camp has been absolutely fantastic, my preparation has been better than ever, and it’s a shame that I didn’t get to show the dominant performance that I know would of resulted in a comprehensive first-round stoppage.

“Competing at this level is tough, and it’s not for everyone, so I wish Ian the best outside of the UFC. Thank you to all my supporters, Suckerpunch and Brian Butler – and thank you to the UFC and the UFC staff for their help over the past few hours.”

The UFC Fight Night 107 undercard will now move forward with eight fights in tact.

MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC Fight Night 107 fight card, starting with the UFC Fight Pass "Prelims" matches online, which are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET, before the UFC Fight Pass main card start time at 5 p.m. ET.
