Rising welterweight contender Gunnar Nelson made good on his co-main event billing earlier today (Sat., Mar. 18, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 107 airing exclusively on Fight Pass from inside The O2 Arena in London, England, when he obliterated Alan Jouban after a slow first round. Having tasted the grappling pressure of “Gunni” through the first five minutes of action, Jouban rushed out of the gate in Round 2 and tried to pressure Nelson on the feet. Unfortunately for “Brahma,” Nelson landed a flush right hand that wobbled Jouban and sent him back into the cage. Instead of unleashing more strikes, Nelson opted to grab the neck, drag the male model to the canvas and submit him via guillotine.

With this win, Nelson improves his divisional record to 7-2, losing only to Demian Maia and Rick Story. At just 28 years of age, Nelson is continuously improving alongside training partner Conor McGregor. If he can get his striking going a little more in 2017, he may quickly make his way into the top 10.
