What’s Hot:

Jimi Manuwa and Corey Anderson will both look to score back-to-back victories after defeating Ovince Saint Preux and Sean O’Connell, respectively, in their last outing. While the bout doesn’t exactly raise my excitement levels through the roof, I get why the promotion is trying to bank on Manuwa’s hometown fandom to headline the event. Plus, if he can score another spectacular knockout, he can inch himself closer to proving he can indeed sleep Jon Jones.

Original Card vs. Actual Card:

Brad Pickett was set to Henry Briones, but “One Punch” was re-booked to face Marlon Vera after Briones had to bow out with an injury. Also Lina Lansberg had her opponent switched after Veronica Macedo bowed out of the event. Lansberg remained on the card to face newcomer Lucie Pudilova.

Briones and the aforementioned Macedo were the only two combatants kicked off the card because of the injury bug (until this and this happened earlier today).

New Blood:

Pudilova will bring her three-fight win streak into the Octagon as she makes her debut against Lansberg, who was last seen getting beatdown by Cris Cyborg last September. I’m sure Lucie would’ve like more time to prepare for her Octagon debut, but when opportunities knocks, you answer.

How The “Prelims” Look:

There’s nothing to get excited too much for, but Brett Johns looks to stay on the winning track to show that he is indeed one of the most-highly touted prospects in the game today when he meets Ian Enwsitle, who failed to make weight (and was actually scratched from the card altogether this morning). Furthermore, Joseph Duffy looks to go into free agency on a high note as he gears up to face Reza Madadi.

Who Needs A Win Badly:

Call me crazy, but i think Joseph Duffy needs a win in the worst way. After all, this will be his last fight under his current contract, and he if wants the promotion — or perhaps another one like Bellator — to show him the money, he needs to wow, impress and pick up the all-important “W” Reza Madadi.

Interest Level: 6/10

I try not to be too critical most of the time when I do these previews, but this card simply doesn’t make sense. The main event features Jimi Manuwa and Corey Anderson, two combatants — though entertaining to watch and skilled -- are nowhere near title contention despite their Top 10 rankings. And while not all main event bouts are title fights or title eliminators, for that matter, this fight, to me, doesn’t have anything really attached to it. No beef, no rivalry, no stakes high enough to get me excited. It just doesn’t scream headlining status. Don’t get me wrong, it would be a good fight on the main card ... but not a main event. I get it, it’s on Fight Pass, but for the fight fans going to see the bout in person, I’m sure even they are finding it hard to get excited.

Alan Jouban and Gunnar Nelson should be a very competitive match, while the hometown crowned anxiously awaits to see if Pickett can end his MMA career on a high note.
