Dana White on Mayweather vs. McGregor: ‘I would never stop Conor from making that kind of money’

Through all the public back and forth between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather regarding a potential boxing superfight, one person who never seemed positive or interested at all regarding the fight was UFC president Dana White. Which is kind of a problem since he's the guy in charge of making most of the decisions in the promotion, including whether one of his fighters can galavant off to compete in another sport.

But in a new interview with TMZ Sports, White finally gave what sounded like a begrudging blessing to the whole affair.

"He obviously has a lot of opportunities right now," Dana said when asked what was next for McGregor. "Tony Ferguson is out there. The Floyd Mayweather thing is out there. We'll see how this thing plays out. Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense for my business, but I would never stop Conor from making that kind of money."

Just the latest sign that a fight once considered a pipe dream by pretty much everyone is coming close to completion? It sure sounds like it. But White also poured cold water on the idea that the fight would happen as soon as June 10th, a date rumored to have the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas reserved for the occasion.

"It has nothing to do with us," White said regarding that particular story. "Nothing to do with the Floyd-Conor fight."
