Knockout! Watch Kelvin Gastelum end Vitor Belfort in the first round at UFC Fight Night 106

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight king Vitor Belfort looked to right the ship last night (Sat., Mar. 11, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 106 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil, when he met rising title contender and former welterweight standout Kelvin Gastelum. For the legend, it was a main event to forget.

While Belfort offered some solid exchanges throughout the first round, he was unable to close off Gastelum and land anything super dangerous. After a spinning head kick by “The Phenom,” Gastelum blasted Belfort with a three-punch combination that sent the legend flying to the canvas. Belfort would miraculously get back to his feet, but Gastelum put an end to the fight with a slick left hand that punctured Belfort’s defense to create the TKO stoppage.

The full fight video highlights can be seen above courtesy of UFC.

With this win, Gastelum proves yet again that his promotional stock may have increased exponentially when he moved up to 185 pounds. He has now knocked out Tim Kennedy and Belfort in succession, and if he gets his wish he’ll get a crack at Anderson Silva at UFC 212 this June. Either way, the 25-year-old is turning into the world beater we thought he’d be when he upset Uriah Hall for Ultimate Fighter rights.
