Joe Rogan: Georges St-Pierre will vacate middleweight title if he defeats Michael Bisping

MMA: UFC 209-Weigh Ins Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The almighty Georges St-Pierre is back in action and ready to put on the “biggest fights possible.” Having sat on the sidelines for the past three years, the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight king is looking to cover as much ground as possible in his return. That includes a journey up to 185 pounds to challenge current champion Michael Bisping. If GSP happens to defeat “The Count” later this year, what can fight fans expect from the Canadian after that? According to UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, St-Pierre would have no problem leaving the gold behind.

"I think if he wins the title, I think he's probably going to vacate it," said Rogan during a recent appearance on ESPN's Five Rounds podcast. "And then fight someone else in another funny fight, if I had to guess. I definitely don't know.

"But if I had to guess, he's probably going to do that."

Interesting outlook. While St-Pierre would actually have to debunk a much bigger Bisping en route to claiming a title he can then relinquish, Rogan is probably more right than wrong. With a plethora of fights at 170 pounds, including bouts with current champion Tyron Woodley, former champion Robbie Lawler and a rematch with Nick Diaz, St-Pierre has too many options to be bogged down by a middleweight title.

Not to mention a potential superfight with current lightweight king Conor McGregor, which one UFC analyst believes is the biggest fight ever and could do over two million pay-per-view (PPV) buys.

While a future middleweight bout with Anderson Silva is also in the cards, that long-awaited matchup is not contingent on a championship draw. If GSP defeated Bisping, vacated the title, dropped back down to welterweight and decided to move back up to fight “The Spider” at 185 pounds, the allure of the legendary bout would remain the same. The Canadian superstar has a lot of options moving forward and may not be looking to reside over a division dripping with powerful title suitors like Yoel Romero, Luke Rockhold, Ronaldo Souza and Chris Weidman.

What so you, Maniacs? Will St-Pierre relinquish the middleweight belt if he defeats Bisping in 2017?
