Yoel Romero camp responds to UFC booking of ‘Bisping vs St-Pierre’

MMA: UFC 194-Aldo vs McGregor-Weigh Ins Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight No. 1 contender, Yoel Romero, was promised the next shot at the 185-pound title by none other than promotion president Dana White.

See those remarks here.

Of course, when White pegged “Soldier of God” the next opponent for reigning middleweight kingpin Michael Bisping, former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was still on the outside looking in.

No more.

“Rush” has since re-signed with UFC and will challenge “The Count” for the division strap. While that sort of matchmaking makes little sense from a purity standpoint, it’s certainly going to do big numbers at the box office.

Though Romero and Co. and surprisingly quiet, especially considering this.

A date and venue have not been established for “Bisping vs. St-Pierre” (more on that here) but based on previous comments from the injured Brit, it could be as far away as this summer.

Whether or not Romero takes a fight between now and then (like this guy did) remains to be seen.
