Ronda Rousey returns to acting, finds television ‘Blindspot’ on NBC

MMA: UFC 207-Nunes vs Rousey Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has not officially retired from mixed martial arts (MMA), but she’s already working on her post-fighting career.

That means a return to acting later this spring, according to today’s press release, in season two of the NBC drama “Blindspot.”

Rousey will be playing DEVON PENBERTHY: a female prison inmate who grew up in a working class family from the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and is serving time for transporting weapons across state lines. She is a tough, athletic woman who knows how to fight and handle a weapon.

Devon Penberthy is a dumb name. Not as dumb as Jesse Holland, but pretty fucking close.

Rousey is no stranger to acting, having appeared in major movie roles like Entourage and Fast & Furious 7. I guess losing two straight fights by way of knockout — like this one — is one way to go from film to television.

Either way, it’s the smart thing to do.
