Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA ...

Welcome to Midnight Mania! Tonight, we have Anderson Silva just saying things, allegations of fight-fixing from Bellator 170 reaching Viacom’s legal eagles, rumors of Mike Goldberg moving to Bellator, Yoel Romero calling into Michael Bisping’s radio show to shout trash at him, GSP bowing down to Fedor, Team Alpha Male visiting a pot farm, and much, much more.

Insomnia

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, thinks he could keep fighting for another six or seven years, according to Sherdog.com. Maybe? He doesn’t know. But, the 41-year-old Brazilian legend feels good!

“I’m so happy because in my heart I have energy. I have a lot of energy for fights... And I talked to my family. My family gives me support [to] finish my contract in the UFC. I think I have energy for fight for more years. I think maybe six, seven years. I don’t know. But, I have energy. This is more important. I have energy. I have passion and I love my job.”

This is a good example of the eternal sunshine of the fighter’s mind. Fighters, especially highly successful fighters, have nearly endless supplies of self-belief and optimism. It’s a necessary trait to succeed in this brutal sport, but it also ensures very, very few retire on top. Keep in mind: Silva’s last victory was against Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153 back in 2012. He faces Derek Brunson at UFC 208 this Saturday.

Bobs and Weaves

Scott Coker does have intentions to sign one of the most well-known commentators in MMA history, Mike Goldberg. It would be quite the coup for Bellator. But, it is not yet a done deal, so we will have to wait and see.

Yoel Romero continues his unilateral assault on Michael Bisping, this time via radio. That’s right -- he called in to Bisping’s own radio show to talk trash.

Bellator was supposedly working on Daley vs. Page, but then the promotion flipped the script and announced Daley vs. Macdonald instead, which promises to be just as awesome ... if not more.

However, there were also more worrying developments raised today about Bellator. Looks like I wasn’t the only one raising concerns about the controversial Ortiz-Sonnen fight, concerns that even Dana White initially laughed off.

But before that, this VICE program looks interesting. Greg Jackson is a wise man.

This Friday, we explore the effects of institutionalized racism in both the MMA fighter community and society as a whole. RISE at 9 PM.

Demetrius Johnson making the most of his new role promoting this “For Honor” video game.

I knew Faber was chill ... I didn’t know he was THIS chill.

Maybe that’s why “No Love” gets along so well with the Diaz brothers.

You know when you can see disaster coming, but can’t do anything to stop it? That’s how this video felt.

All-time great Georges St-Pierre literally bowed to his knees upon meeting “Last Emperor,” Fedor Emelianenko. Meanwhile, another contender for G.O.A.T. still wants a fight with GSP, though, a former champion who happens to fight this weekend.

I would second guess this too, Chris.

Valentina Shevchenko’s sister trains, too!

No words.

Slips, Rips and KO Clips

Even though UFC inexplicably refused to feature Holly Holm’s historic knockout of Ronda Rousey in this highlight video, these knockouts are still legit

Most of these are from the same incredible fight:

Timing is everything:

Knockouts that age well:

Quick Hits

  • Dustin Poirier says he has a new emphasis on his defensive responsibilities after his knockout loss to Michael Johnson and sparred less in this camp than he ever has to prepare for his UFC 208 clash with Jim Miller.
  • Andy Richardson’s analysis of the co-main event between Anderson Silva and Derek Brunson at UFC 208 is worth your time.
  • Patrick Wyman’s .GIF-filled breakdown of Holly Holm vs. Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208 is on point.

Random Land

This was predictable!

Regardless of your political affiliation, this interview by Breitbart has the worst and most hilariously bad production I’ve ever seen. My little brother produced cleaner content when he was 12 ... seriously.

Not her day.
