It didn’t take long for Bellator MMA middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho to record another scintillating title defense earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 9, 2017) at Bellator 190 live on Spike TV from inside the Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy, as the reigning 185-pound king knocked out challenger Alessio Sakara in just 44 seconds.
It all started with a right hand that forced Sakara to turtle up on his feet and stumble back into the cage. Carvalho pressured immediately, nearly landed a flying knee, and then absolutely destroyed the Italian with a dynamite right elbow that turned Sakara into a sack of potatoes. The referee stepped in, Carvalho walked off, and the finish went into the books.

With this performance, Carvalho locks down his third-straight Bellator title defense and moves his current MMA win streak to a staggering 15. At this point in time, Carvalho is easily one of the best 185-pound fighters outside of UFC and could have a Bellator superfight on his hands if Rory MacDonald can defeat welterweight champion Douglas Lima next year and moves up in weight.
