Rising UFC bantamweight prospect Andre Soukhamthath finally cashed in earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 9, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 123 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., when he knocked out Luke Sanders with a vicious right hook in the second round.
This wasn’t a complete outing for Soukhamthath, who was forced back on his feet for the majority of the fight, but boy did “Asian Sensation” really capitalize when it mattered most. During an exchange inside in Round 2, he was able to sneak a right hook counter over the shoulder of Sanders and instantly drop the Tennessee native. Soukhamthath landed a few more insurance shots before the referee stepped in for the TKO stoppage.

With this performance, Soukhamthath captures his first UFC victory after dropping his last two appearances via split decision. The 29-year-old has always possessed budding talent, he just needed to showcase it on the biggest stage. While a victory over Sanders isn’t going to shoot Soukhamthath up the 135-pound ladder, it could land him a top 15 opponent his next time out.
