World-class submission expert Davi Ramos finally made good on his mixed martial arts (MMA) potential earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 9, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 123 from inside Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., when he choked out veteran Chris Gruetzemacher via third-round rear-naked choke.
Despite taking early control in the fight, it wasn’t an easy road to victory for Ramos. After slamming knees and punches into Gruetzemacher, the Brazilian began to tire and allowed Gruetzemacher to land some big offense. Luckily for Ramos, he was able to quickly score a takedown in Round 3 and work his way towards the submission finish.

With this performance, Ramos rebounds after losing to welterweight Sergio Moraes on short notice back in March. The 31-year-old looked good in his first bout at 155 pounds and could quickly climb the UFC lightweight ladder in 2018 if he can continue to expand his power striking and finish his efforts off with his ground game.
