Manny Pacquiao says he’s in talks with Conor McGregor for potential boxing match

It didn’t take long for UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor to end up in more talks about boxing superfights.

Less than four months removed from his TKO loss to undefeated pugilist Floyd Mayweather Jr., “Notorious” is being linked to a potential boxing match with popular superstar Manny Pacquiao. This is according to Pacquiao himself.

“If we can negotiate it, I have no problem. It is OK with both of us,” Pacquiao told news outlet AFP, via Yahoo.com, when asked if he was looking to fight McGregor.

Luckily for fight fans who like seeing McGregor cross over into the boxing ring, Pacquiao confirmed that the two combat dynamos have already begun communicating.

“Initially, but we have not yet had any follow-up conversations,” Pacquiao said when asked if he has spoken with McGregor.

Pacquiao added that “Notorious” is just one of several opponents the Filipino is lining up for his return in April.

While most mixed martial arts (MMA) fans want McGregor to return to the Octagon as soon as possible, put his 155-pound title on the line, and one day meet Nate Diaz in a trilogy bout, it seems like the boxing world is drawing the Irishman back in. And after seeing his bank account increase by $100 million earlier this year, McGregor would be stupid not to answer the call.

Heck, even a retired Oscar De La Hoya is throwing his hat in the ring for a chance to score a massive payday opposite “Notorious.”

At this point, like it’s always been since the brash Irishman knocked out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds and claimed the UFC featherweight championship back in 2015, nobody knows what the hell McGregor is going to do. Even if Mayweather isn’t going to come back out of retirement for a potential rematch, established boxing stars like Pacquiao are more than willing to pick up the slack and welcome “Notorious” back to the ring.
