Now that Georges St-Pierre has vacated the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title, Robert Whittaker — who previously defeated Yoel Romero for the interim strap — will move on to defend his championship title against Luke Rockhold.
“Rush” was forced to walk away from mixed martial arts (MMA), at least for the time being, after suffering from colitis.
They’ll do the deed in the UFC 221 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, set for Sat., Feb. 11, 2018 inside Perth Arena in Western Australia, a five-round headliner that came together after former division titleholder Michael Bisping was stopped by Kelvin Gastelum.
As expected, Whittaker opened as a slight favorite over Rockhold.

Whittaker (19-4) is currently enjoying an eight-fight win streak, one that includes a technical knockout victory over Jacare Souza. Rockhold (16-3), meanwhile, rebounded from his loss to the aforementioned Bisping by stopping David Branch.
