Rally for Cub? Swanson expecting featherweight title shot with win at UFC Fresno

Longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight contender Cub Swanson is expecting a title shot with a win over Brian Ortega in the UFC Fight Night 123 main event, which takes place this Saturday night (Dec. 9, 2017) inside Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

While Swanson believes he’s long overdue for a crack at the crown, based on his four-fight win streak, it’s important to note the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) import is ranked No. 4 in the division, behind Jose Aldo, Frankie Edgar, and Ricardo Lamas.

Swanson (25-7) was previously submitted by all three.

“The good thing about what happened before UFC 218, the fans spoke up and rallied for me,” Swanson told UFC Tonight. “A win this weekend, I don’t know what else I can do. I have to put on a good performance. He’s trying to steal my shine, but I’m not going to allow it.”

We’ll find out in less than 48 hours on FOX Sports 1.

MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire UFC Fight Night 123 fight card on fight night (click here), starting with the UFC Fight Pass “Prelims” matches online at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by the FOX Sports 1 "Prelims" bouts at 8 p.m. ET, before the main card start time at 10 p.m. ET, also on FOX Sports 1.
