Michael Johnson is all set to make the drop down to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight division, as the promotion officially announced “The Menace” would be facing Darren Elkins at UFC Fight Night 124 on Jan. 14, 2018 in St. Louis.
Though he didn’t get his ideal matchup against Jose Aldo just yet, Elkins will be more than a challenge for “The Menace,” as “The Damage” has proven time and again just how tough of a draw he really is (prime example here).
Darren is currently riding a hot streak of five straight wins and holds the No. 9 spot on the official UFC rankings, with his last win coming over Denis Bermudez this past summer.
As for Johnson, he has seen better days as his last two fights saw him come on the losing end to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje, prompting him to look for a new lease on his combat sports life at 145 pounds.
UFC Fight Night 124 is currently set to feature a middleweight showdown between Vitor Belfort and Uriah Hall, as well as Paige VanZant taking and Jessica-Rose Clark. Also, Jeremy Stephens will face off against DooHo Choi in what is sure to be a hard-hitting affair.
