Before Cub Swanson attempts to collect his fifth straight win against Brian Ortega at UFC Fight Night 123 this weekend (Sat., Dec. 9, 2017) in Fresno, Calif., take a trip back to relive one of Cub’s best performances inside the Octagon. Back in 2013, Swanson found himself staring down striking specialist Dennis Siver at UFC 162 in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a fairly competitive bout, with Siver finding success early on, taking down the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) veteran. In round two, though, Siver started to huff-and-puff while Swanson started to find his groove.
In the final round, Swanson really started connecting on his mark, rattling and dazing Siver repeatedly with precision striking. Once his foe was on the ground, Swanson started to rain down some vicious ground-and-pound to the point where he himself had to tell the ref to stop the fight.
Now, Swanson will look to take on the fast-rising Ortega in the FOX Sports 1-televised main event, with the hopes that a victory will finally get him his much-desired shot at the strap, which means he could earn a do-over against Max Holloway.
