Tony Ferguson must have not been too impressed with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dominant, one-sided win over Edson Barboza at last night’s (Sat., Dec. 30, 2017) UFC 219 event in Las Vegas, as “El Cucuy” already has plans on moving up to Welterweight.
Tony took to social media shortly after “The Eagle” downed Junior in “Sin City” to declare war on the Khabib and current UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor, as well as reveal his future plans.
Don't Care If The @ufc Approves, I'll Cut @TheNotoriousMMA ... Drop @TeamKhabib & Move Up To Welterweight Either B4 Or After I'm Done w/ This Division & Rid It Of The Trash At The Top. Pollution Has Accumilated Over The Years, Time To Clean House #DefendOrVacate -TheeChamp https://t.co/l6XkH50ZQY

Of course, Dana White has already stated that McGregor won’t return till later this coming summer, which means Ferguson will have to be on ice for six to eight months if he wants a peice at “Notorious.”
And since Khabib is eyeing a return to action in April, the fight to make is an interim title fight between he and Ferguson. Sure, the fight has been booked and subsequently cnacledded three time before, but at this point UFC is running out of options at 155-pounds.
As for Ferguson’s plans to move up to 170 pounds to clean house, that’s quite a lofty goal, especially since the division has seen an uptick of contenders such as Colby Covington, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Darren Till and Rafael does Anjos who are all chomping at the bit to get thier crack at the crown held by Tyron Woodley.
Nevertheless, “El Cucuy” wants what he wants. with or without UFC’s approval.
