Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is all set to pull the trigger on the UFC 219 pay-per-view (PPV) event, locked and loaded for Saturday night (Dec. 30, 2017) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring “Prelims” on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
And it’s a doozy.
UFC 219 will be headlined by the women’s featherweight title fight pitting reigning division queenpin Cris Cyborg opposite former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm. Elsewhere on the card, Khabib Nurmagomedov aims to reclaim his spot in the 155-pound title chase against dynamic striker Edson Barboza.
That’s not all. Not by a long shot.

Nurmagomedov blocks a head kick, fires right hands, and shoots a minute in. Barboza turns him aside and seaprates, ripping to the body and leg. Nurmagomedov waving him on as he flurries and shoots again. He completes an inside trip against the cage and here come the elbows. Two minutes in. Nasty punches. More shots piling up, Barboza absorbing them well thus far. Side control for Nurmagomedov with two minutes to go.
BIG right hand lands for Nurmagomedov as Barboza regains guard. Nurmagomedov moves into a low mount and continues smashing away. Full mount now. Barboza trying to scoot to the fence. Nurmagomedov blasting away from point-blank range. Back to mount with a minute to work. Elbows now. More mauling. Nurmagomedov tries a crank, then drills Barboza with more right hands. 10-8 Nurmagomedov despite Barboza’s early success.
Round 2: Nurmagomedov continues marching forward as Barboza slings kicks. Good circling off the fence. Nurmagomedov pumping his jab, flurrying. Hard combo on the fence and he shoots a minute in. Good knee by Barboza on the cage. Nurmagomedov chipping away with short punches. Barboza shoves him away and tries a wheel kick, blocked. Barboza rips the body two minutes in. Right hands by Nurmagomedov and he looks for a single-leg. Barboza can’t get away and Nurmagomedov sets up in half guard. Two minutes to go.

Round 3: Barboza launching more kicks, finding the mark. Heavy flurry by Nurmagomedov as he walks Barboza down. He changes levels on the cage and drags him back down a minute in. Barboza stands, eating punches on the way up. Nurmagomedov still driving, but Barboza defending well. Knee from Barboza, still defending. He successfully circles off and cracks Nurmagomedov with a left. Wheel kick just blocked, then a clean overhand right from Barboza. Two minutes to go.

Round 1: Diakiese catches a kick, gets popped by a right behind it. Looking for oblique kicks. One minute in. Jumping spinning back kick attempt falls short. Leg kick exchange. Hard low kick by Hooker. Two minutes in. Hooker out of range of most of Diakiese’s shots, but not throwing much in return. Two-touch back kick caught by Hooker. Stiff jab by Hooker. Round 2: Hooker tries a front kick, eats a leg kick. Leg kick exchange. Nice overhand left by Diakiese met by a leg kick. Body kick by Hooker. One minute in. Hooker lands a straight right, stuffs a takedown and puts him on the fence. Diakiese tries a throw, can’t get it. Hooker denies another throw and they separate two minutes in. Diakiese with a trio of calf kicks. Knee in the clinch. Hooker changes levels and takes him down on the cage. Hooker staying heavy, takes the back. Two minutes to go.
Full body triangle for Hooker, looking for the choke. One minute to go. Diakiese defending well. He explodes into guard with twenty seconds to go, ending the round there. 10-9 Hooker.
Round 3: Diakiese comes out slugging, lands some solid punches. They attack each other’s legs, Hooker tries to slow him down with a knee. Diakiese continues to find the mark with heavy punches. Just as he seems to be getting momentum, he shoots into a savage guillotine that draws a frantic tap.
Final result: Hooker def. Diakiese by submission (guillotine choke)
115 lbs.: Cynthia Calvillo vs. Carla Esparza
Round 1: Esparza lands a right hand early. Leg kick lands. Rights from Calvillo. Well-timed takedown by Calvillo into half guard. One minute in. Two minutes in, minimal damage. Esparza regains guard. Calvillo fires elbows, but Esparza turns for an armbar. Esparza breaks her grip, but Calvillo gets her elbow out and takes side control with two minutes to go.
Esparza throwing elbows off of her back. Knee from Calvilo. One minute to go. Esparza inverts for an armbar, no dice. She tries to get to her knees, eats heavy shots from Calvillo. Slick back take, but Esparza spins into guard and drops punches. 10-9 Calvillo.

Big right hand by Esparza. She’s moving quite well this round. Calvillo changes levels, lands a left on the break. Two minutes in. Esparza with another pair of rights, one from Calvilo as well. Rountree gets to his knees, goes back to his back when Oleksiejczuk threatens an RNC. Rountree lands an elbow while Oleksiejczuk continues to land punches. One minute to go. Oleksiejczuk keeps it up until the bell. 10-9 Oleksiejczuk.

145 lbs.: Rick Glenn vs. Myles Jury
Round 1: Body kick from Jury. Glenn ties up, Jury puts him on the fence. They jockey for position on the cage a minute in. Another solid body kick from Jury. Glenn charges, gets knocked off-balance by a left hook. More body kicks. Glenn blocks the next one. A couple more and Glenn shoots on one, only to get swept. Jury on top in half guard, now full guard. He stands and allows Glenn to his feet. Two minutes to go.
Jury digs another body kick and a 1-2. Counter uppercut lands when Glenn tries to duck in. One minute to to. Jury pops him with another straight left. Glenn catches a body kick, gets stuffed. Jury lands a flying knee and right hand. He’s schooling Glenn in the standup so far. Glenn shoots and puts him on the fence. 10-9 Jury.
Round 2: Jury goes low-high with punches, puts Jury on the fence. Jury with a knee on the break. Nasty counter 2-3 by Jury. Glenn catches a kick, can’t chase him down. One minute in. Another body kick by Jury. Jury works his way to a body lock and looks for the back. They jockey for position two minutes in. Jury scores a takedown into mount with two minutes to go.
Jury threatens an arm-triangle, transitions to the back. Glenn scrambling well, Jury a bit too low on the back. He readjusts and reestablishes top position. Full guard with a minute to go. Hard left hand by Jury. Another hard right hand before the bell. 10-9 Jury.
Round 3: Jury continuing to punish Glenn when “The Gladiator” tries to rush inside. Glenn puts him on the fence. They separate a minute in. Left hand by Glenn. Counter left catches him. Glenn body kick, back to the fence. Elbow lands for him. They separate. Glenn again rushes in, can’t keep him on the cage. Two minutes in. Counter hook by Jury, who eats a liver kick and lands a counter knee. Hard knee by Jury as he pivots. Counter left knocks Glenn back. Two minutes to go.

185 lbs.: Omari Akhmedov vs. Marvin Vettori
Round 1: Akhmedov opens with a leg kick. Right hand from Akhmedov, Vettori tries a combo in return. Heavy body kick by the Dagestani, but Vettori continues to advance and lands one of his own. One minute in. Solid counter from Akhmedov, who’s winging some big punches. Hard knee catches Akhmedov leaning. Both land left hands, then Akhmedov lands enother. Big punches landing for Akhmedov, straight right dings Vettori. BIG hook. Two minutes in. More hooks by Akhmedov. Right hand downstairs. They trade on the fence. Vettori tries to shoot, blasted by a right hand. Vettori leg kick. Two minutes to go.
Akhmedov wades after him with another hard right hand, walks into a knee. Good straight lefts by Vettori. Vettori lands a body kick, eats right hands. They exchange near the fence. Akhmedov shoots, stuffed with a minute to go. Akhmedov visibly winded. 10-9 Akhmedov.
Round 2: Akhmedov tears into Vettori’s lead leg with kicks, lands good punches before going for a takedown. Vettori tries a Kimura, transitions to an armbar. He locks up a triangle from there and Akhmedov works his head free. Vettori scrambles up and separates two minutes in. Straight left by Vettori, knee and winging right from Akhmedov. He tries to spin. Another hard leg kick with two minutes to go.
Vettori wades after him with left hands, ties up on the fence. They separate. Left hook lands for Akhmedov. 2-3. One minute to go. Both land near the fence. Akhmedov’s right eye has a mouse under it. 10-9 Akhmedov.
Round 3: Akhmedov is definitely tired, but still winging shots and landing a few. Flurry and hard knee from Vettori. He flurries inside and Akmhedov waves him on. Another knee by the Italian. Straight left a minute in. They tie up, Vettori tries to flurry on the break. Vettori grabs a body lock. Another straight left and another. Akhmedov’s mouthpiece falls out two minutes in. Vettori eats a spinning back fist. BIG overhand right by Akhmedov. Vettori slugging with him, takes him to the fence. They separate with two minutes to go.
Vettori popping him with straight lefts over and over. Head kick and left hand and Akhmedov is not steady. Vettori body kick. Akhmedov lands a right, tries a knee and lands enouther right behind it. Round 1: Smolka moving forward early, as expected. Body shot lands for him as Nicolau wings counters. BIG counter right by Nicolau. One minute in. Nicolau slips a combo. Nicolau scores a knockdown and steps into guard, dropping shots. Now to half guard. Two minutes in. Smolka tries to stand, wrangled down. Side control for Nicolau. Scrambles continue and Cincolau lets him up. BIG 2-3 and down goes Smolka again. Nicolau locks up a head-and-arm choke with two minutes to go.
Smolka manages to survive, eats a knee on the way up. Nicolau catches a kick, can’t use it. One minute to go. Nicolau is just so much sharper on the feet. Another 2-3 has Smolka wobling. He throws back, but gets blasted by the same combo again for yet another knockdown. Smolka goes for an armbar at the bell. 10-7 Nicolau.
Round 2: Smolka’s still walking after him, bloodied. Again, 2-3 connects. One minute in. Nicolau running circles around him, jabs the body. Smolka leg kick. Both land in the pocket. Smolka leg kick. Straight right. Nicolau catches him with a hard jab, eats a left hook. Smolka right hand, Nicolau left hook. Good body kick lands for Smolka. They trade body shots. Nicolau swats him with another hook. Two minutes to go.

Round 2: Delarosa shoots into a guillotine that Elliott converts into an anaconda choke. Delarosa escapes, finds himself in a rear crucifix before Elliott ends up on top in half guard. Delarosa looks for an armbar, Elliott steps over and locks up another anaconda choke. Delarosa starts turning red and is forced to tap.
