I remember the year I bought my mom a house for Christmas.
Sure, it was made of stale gingerbread, but I wasn’t the welterweight champion of the mixed martial arts (MMA) world like Tyron Woodley, who used a portion of the money he earned in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to make good on a 25 year-old promise.
“It’s a very special Christmas for me,” Woodley said. “Since I was a 10-year-old kid, I always told told my mom that I would buy her a house. Today is that day. It feels really good. Really rewarding. A really good day for me. Really excited.”
Woodley recently underwent shoulder surgery to repair a nagging injury but is expected to be back in action in early 2018 (sorry, welterwhiners). An opponent has yet to be finalized; however, all signs point to former lightweight kingpin Rafael dos Anjos.
That would leave this guy with yet another fight before getting his crack at the crown.
